About WhichFranchise.org

Our Mission

WhichFranchise.org was founded with a single goal: to provide prospective franchisees with independent, objective, and data-dense analysis of Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs).

The franchise purchasing process is heavily skewed in favor of franchisors, who employ teams of attorneys and salespeople. We level the playing field by extracting the critical financial and legal realities hidden deep within 300+ page legal documents, ensuring you know exactly what you are signing up for before writing a six-figure check.

Our Methodology

Our FDD analysis follows a strict, repeatable process:

  1. Obtain the official FDD: We source documents directly from state registration databases or via direct requests to ensure we are reviewing the legally mandated, unedited version.
  2. Extract all 23 FDD Items systematically: Our analysts break down every item, focusing on costs, fees, and obligations.
  3. Analyse Item 19 earnings claims: We scrutinize Financial Performance Representations, or explicitly note when a franchisor refuses to provide them.
  4. Review litigation history: We analyze Items 3 & 4 to uncover past or pending lawsuits and bankruptcies.
  5. Assess franchisee support: We evaluate the required training, territory protections, and supply chain mandates.
  6. Publish findings: We compile our research into accessible reviews with zero editorial influence from the franchisors themselves.

Independence Policy

We accept no advertising from franchise brands, no affiliate commissions, and no sponsored reviews.

Our research is funded entirely independently. We do not sell leads to franchisors or brokers. If a franchise is highly rated on our site, it is solely because the data in their FDD reflects a strong opportunity for the franchisee.
